They edited Tails a bit, when in the original game he collected only a few rings to help you avoid to die, in this hack if he sees a line of onion rings he’ll go for all.

Tails left the hack for geting rings for you but he gets rings thinking those rings are noramal but the rings make you die if you have 29 and tails collects more
it makes you die
