None of us truly belong here. I want to be on a better planet With more interesting people. Better people. I want a planet full of artists And wanderers, Dreamers and thinkers, Peace and love, And a healthy pursuit of knowledge. But we got this place instead. Sure, all that good exists here But we also have Aids and starvation, Despair and depression, Pedophiles and priests, Religious warfare, beheadings, Planes flying into buildings, Massacres and genocides, Cheaters, Liars, Heartbreakers, Spin doctors, propagandists, rapists and politicians. We have a global disease. It is the fundamental breakdown of the human soul. We celebrate selfishness and mock the weak. The rich horde resources And the poor die alone and destitute. Corruption has taken over the human condition. Unfortunately this world is all we have. So, I wake up in the morning and I think about snuffing it. I go to sleep at night and think about suicide. My mind is in a cage And my heart just wants to fly freely. But this is all there is. The ideal world does not exist. My world does not exist. The people that I want are thin and far between. So, I think about snuffing it. But this is all there is, So I don’t.

artists use souls,angels,gods,spirituality in all forms of art, stop trying to stomp all over the artistic world, freedom to choose self expression in any form is allowed concerning art. Infact some consider religious writing to be a form of art telling a story with meaning to it, and psychologists consider the light & dark side contained in such writings to show the differences, as in seeing a candle lit inside a dark room. Art is unique to humanoids & you attack that? Geez!

No, and no, the fact is you made a statement that had a strong opinion with it, rather than using a correct form of enquiry, as to whether or not the atheist community should use the word ‘ Soul ‘ or not, there are those that call themselves atheist agnostic and some chose to use the term ‘ Spirituality ‘ which also uses the word soul, so speak for yourself & your own point of view, rather than having strong opinions as to what you wish to see amongst athiests.

@66Shellz As a race, we really need to try to encourage people to move away from these bronze aged ideals, souls, angels, gods, spirituality etc. they are all meaningless words that describe things that do not exist. You’re welcome to disagree with it but there’s no reason to get all excited about it and take it as a attack. Tbh I don’t know why you posted, nathanforst and I had already discussed my point and he gave his point of view and why he used it, which was fine with me.

Not really, your taking what i said completely out of context and exaggerating it to the extreme, thats not really a basis for a logical conversation, I wasn’t trying to attack anyone with my comment, I gave the poem a thumbs up, I was merely stating, as atheists we should try to avoid using words that describe things we don’t believe exist, it encourages the use of these ideas and words, such a the word soul, which to me is a meaningless word. Your getting all silly about it

I disagree with you. When I use the word “soul” I use it in a poetic form which describes the “human heart.” There is nothing wrong with using colorful language especially in poetry. The human soul is our fears, dreams, and desires made manifest in our minds. If some people want to use that word to describe some dualistic state of existence between body and “ethereal energy” and they confuse me with one of their ilk, I will be more than happy to correct them.

Try getting at least one hobby that takes you away from Computers, Like Skiing, Scuba, etc.
If you can’t do that, try learning and instrument or playing it, if you know how.

A world like that would never exists for one simple reason: we all suck. Sure, there are people that don’t suck as much, but there’s always the chance that they’ll become evil fuckers one day. No matter how righteous some of us think we are, we’re humans, and in the end, we’re all basically the same: capable of a few really good things, but also capable of a whole lot of bullshit.
