Public Library Event: Teen Poetry Cafe

This poem is copyright Gabrielle Carlucci. Please do not reproduce, redistribute, or copy in any way without my permission. The following is the poem transcribed (without evident mistakes due to a keen attack of stage fright. *laughs*) “Oh, and what is Truth?” It hurts sometimes when the skin is growing over to take the stitches out with scissors sharp The Truth is like that. It hurts sometimes when your life is growing over to cut these lies away with two-edged sword But you will see then. It seems sometime that these careful man-made knots holding your fraying edges at thinest seams The lies are like that. It seems sometimes that this fallacious web you wear holding it together it’s thinest parts But it’s not like that. It looks sometimes as if doing what doctor’s told you being healthy enough for here and now The world all thinks that. It’s looks sometimes as if doing what people told you is enough, to not look ahead but here and now But it’s not like that. It’s true all times that lies binding you with iron chains are holding you apart from living Water The Truth’s still waiting. It’s true all times that where such separation hurts it is setting you free Eternally Then Hope is there now. It’s true all times that while you find wonder, Love you loose abilities in here and now But you will see then. It’s true all times that while you have faith within joy of God instead of here and now Because Truth is Him. It seems sometimes can’t be an invisible Person, Father loving
