Love Is Like a Rollercoaster
Article by Larry Elrod
A man called Franklin P. Jones once wrote love doesn’t make the world go round, love is what makes the ride worthwhile. And I don’t think there is a better quote out there when it comes to describing what love is. It may not be the substance of what makes the world what it is, but the most epic stories of all time throughout the ages have been based around love and today that is no different.
The Ancient Greek story of Troy was all based around the love of the princess of Greece and her abduction. Romeo and Juliet is perhaps the most famous of all love stories, and it is also one of the most famous stories of all time. Even the Native American story of Captain James Smith and Pocahontas involving their love is widely acknowledged as an inspiring love story. The emergence of the phoenix from the ashes when he meets his great love is repeated in movies over and over again. Titanic is perhaps the greatest love story of our time. You can watch it again and again and still feel the love that made the biggest vessel shrank. These stories of love can also be mirrored in real life. We all have different love stories, but not all with the same intensity. Though not all love stories have a happy ending, what’s important is you have loved than never experience love at all.
Love is like a rollercoaster and everyday people experience the upward curve of happiness and the downward spiral to despair. A new love heightens the sense to everyone around you and you walk with a swagger that breeds of confidence and excitement. Isn’t this what life is all about and what we should strive for in life? The agony and ecstasy that we suffer from in love is never replicated in anything else that we do. You can never fill the void of a lost love and apart from the mourning of a loved one; there can be no greater sadness than losing a love.
So all great fables and fairytales, being based around the love of someone are mirrored in everyday life and the ability for certain people to make us feel on top of the world. You can capture this emotion and will no doubt capture it at some point of your life. So don’t be too down if you get knocked off the rollercoaster, just get back on and enjoy the ride.
