THanks!! You’ve been so helpful teaching me this new stitch. My daughter just told me she is expecting her first child and I’m excited to be making my grand baby a blanket that is not “simple”… You are very good at this!

I just finished the baby afgan. with the slanted shell. this was my first blanket. I made it a multicolor pastel. and put a white boarded around the edge. It is beautiful. Thanks for showing these vedio’s in utube and especially thanks for showing this for us left handers.

@Shaheeda4ever 2 chains – 1 shell. The written instructions are posted in the video details. You can also visit the link to my crochet blog, which will provide a symbol chart.

Hi Theresa I’m woking on a shell stitch baby blanket and was wondering how I can add a border to it, and I saw you have a video on how to straighten out a shell stitch should I use that too so the border is even all the way around? Like so it wont be ruffledmon top because of the shell stitch?

I have been crocheting for less than a month, I made a baby blanket from this video, booties and a hat from your other video’s for my soon to be grandson. I have friends who can not believe I can crochet these things so soon! I have one who has been crocheting for 12 years, says she had trouble with this pattern, I sent her your link :-)

@GrinningStar Work a chain between each peak, which will straighten off the edge. Upon completion, work an edging of single crochet.

I have used your videos to teach myself to crochet and you are an amazing teacher. I have a quick question though, how would I go about making a straight edge once I’m finished with my piece?

I was wondering if it was possible to do different designs, like a basket weave pattern or DC pattern, along with this shell method, and at the same time for the blanket to come out proportional. I started off w/ the shell, but if I wanted to have rows of DC how could I accomplish it? BTW I love your videos!

So, I used the 5.5 size hook and the 4ply yarn. I tried chaining the suggested number of chains, but it seemed too short so I added about ten-ish more? It still seems like the blanket isn’t long enough. I’m trying to decide if I make it longer to compensate for the width, but I was wondering if, with the edging, can I do a second row of edging? Would that work?

I loved the stitch…how to work it in the round and do increases and decreases for a hat or beret??

@KatieK0605 What I would suggest is that you carry the pattern to the 3 remaining edges to form your border, using the pattern of the afghan. When you get to the corners, you will want to work them full so they do not pucker.

I have finished the baby blanket but I want to do some type of border…like a wavy edging. I tried to do a straight edge and it looks all wrong..so I undid it. Any suggestions?
