In its second season, American Idol prepared a compilation of songs sung by American Idol finalists of Season 2. The top 11 finalists sung different choices of American love songs including some of their performances in the show.
Clay Aiken did a great job in rendering his own version of On The Wings of Love. He had shown his powerful voice and some range interpreting the song. Kimberley Locke did fantastic with Over the Rainbow. She did phenomenal in her live performance though but still this one is good.
Ruben Studdard did very well with Superstar. You could really feel the soul when he sung this one.One of the impressive and outstanding performances from this album was from Kimberly Caldwell’s Killing Me Softly. She sounded so great and her husky tone is perfect. She has soul singing this song and she made it her own.
Julia DeMato’s At Last was a sweet rendition but still the original version is better. Corey Clark has a powerful voice but singing Open Arms feel like he is straining his instrument but it was okay. Rickey Smith did a good version of Back at One though it was a predictable version.
Joshua Gracin did a beautiful version of Three Times a Lady. He made his own rendition to this one. You can also hear some country twang and its really good. Carmen Rasmussen did How Do I Live and I must say that it was a good one. This was a song that showcased her voice more and the vibrato here was enough to make it good. Charles Grisgby did fantastic with Overjoyed while Trenyce had the only upbeat song with Let’s Stay Together and it was good also.
The album did not include Vanessa Olivarez for some reason but they included two ensemble songs here; What the World Needs Now and God Bless the USA. Both songs were performed well by the finalists. They did well with the two great songs. Overall this is a great album made by American Idol.
